As part of this week’s Arabian Travel Market in Dubai, Emirates has announced that from June 1 it will start selling its next flights (A380) that will offer a new premium economy class.
The company will deploy the new service on high-density routes operated by its A380 from 1 August, linking Dubai with London, Paris and Sydney, and will do the same in Christchurch, New Zealand, in December.
President speaking
Considering the characteristics of the cabin, Emirates considers that it will be a serious competition for the business of other airlines.
“Since we introduced our Premium Economy seats in January 2021, the positive response and demand has been tremendous. We currently have six A380s equipped with this cabin class, which limits our deployment, but we intend to offer this experience to many other markets in our network. In November, we will start our retrofit program to install Premium Economy on 67 A380s and 53 Boeing 777s″.
“ By the end of the programme, Emirates will have 126 aircraft equipped with Premium Economy cabins, as well as the latest interiors in other cabins. It’s a big investment to ensure our customers continue to have the best experience in the sky ,” said Tim Clark, President of Emirates.
Amenities
Premium Economy passengers will have access to an exclusive check-in area in Dubai and, on board, the cabin is decorated with wood paneling similar to Business Class . In terms of amenities, they will receive items such as blankets and pillows specifically for Premium Economy , as well as hygiene accessories developed with sustainable materials.
The catering service is inspired by that of Business Class , with complimentary drinks and main courses made with seasonal ingredients served on ceramic plates and stainless steel cutlery. The offer is complemented by premium wines and sparkling wines from Chandon, as well as liqueurs and chocolates.
The seats have 13.3-inch screens with more than 5,000 channels of music, movies, series, news and documentaries. On the four-class A380, the Premium Economy cabin is located in the forward sector of the main deck and has 56 seats in a 2-4-2 configuration. The 777 will have 24 seats in a specific sector between Business and Economy.
