Ryanair reported that it achieved the best month in its history in terms of number of passengers carried, with a total of 15.9 million travelers and an average aircraft load factor of 95%. This represents an increase of 203% compared to the same month of the previous year, still in the midst of critical moments of the pandemic.
The airline, Europe’s biggest by passenger numbers (but not by fleet, behind Lufthansa), said it operated more than 88,500 flights in June. In addition, it expects to carry 15% more passengers this summer than the same season in 2019 (before the pandemic) and which will carry a record 165 million passengers in the year to March 2023.
For comparison purposes, the company transported just under 100 million passengers in 12 months (between March 2021 and March 2022) and its pre-Covid record was 149 million in a similar period.
Ryanair said last week that it expects “minimal disruption” to its operation, even as strikes and crew are announced for the coming weeks.
