On the afternoon of last Sunday (22), stormy areas developed on the outskirts of Havana, Cuba, causing a waterspout to form near the José Martí International Airport.
Although the meteorological phenomenon itself is not uncommon, a curious fact drew attention, when an Airbus A350-900 of the Spanish airline World2Fly, registered with the registration EC-NOI and coming from Madrid, deviated from the phenomenon, while on final approach. to the airport, as reported by the website Aviacionline .
This prompted the air traffic controller to instruct the crew to perform a maneuver to avoid the forming funnel cloud which, while not endangering the operation, did draw attention. People at the airport captured the unusual moment on video (waterspout).
The Meteorological Institute of Cuba Forecast Center reported the event on its official Twitter account as a “weak tornado”, adding a photograph after World2fly’s A350 landed . It is worth mentioning that, at the time of the video, the funnel cloud had not touched the ground.

Despite the scare in the surrounding residents, according to local media reports citing official sources, the phenomenon only felled some trees, but did not cause damage or injuries to people.
